ChuckPenn3 | SAMPO (1959) Footage Comparison CinemaScope to 1.33:1 to MST3K @ChuckPenn3 | Uploaded August 2022 | Updated October 2024, 4 hours ago.
This comparison uses video and audio from the Finnish 2.35:1 version of SAMPO (1959) with alternate takes and framing used in the Russian 1.33:1 version, represented here from a German-language DVD release. The MST3K (Mystery Science Theater 3000) version is shown (where available) as well to demonstrate how it was the Russian 1.33:1 edition that was dubbed and cut for THE DAY THE EARTH FROZE (1964) and not the alternate 2.35:1 Finnish release.
