"Sammy Spider is that little outsider that looks in and finds joy and pleasure," says author Sylvia A. Rouss, who started writing to satisfy the need for books that would help explain the many Jewish holidays to her students. "There's a learning concept in every book. Sylvia has found a way to clothe it in the holiday and then my job is to make it more concrete, more fun, more understandable," says illustrator Katherine Janus Kahn.
