Samantha Ivey singing "Does Anybody Know my Name?" on the 17th March 2019 at An Evening with Christopher Hamilton & Friends at the Union Theatre, London. The song comes from an original musical revue called "A Song Cycle for Soho" that reflects the full, rich tapestry of Soho life, history and the people that inhabit it. Created as a writing project for Mercury Musical Development members to practice the craft of songwriting, the revue was presented at London’s Soho Theatre in March 2012 to great acclaim. The brief for the song was as follows: late for her shift, Olenka a waitress from Poland is suffering from rising anger. From leaving her flat to arriving at work in Soho she must have bumped into a hundred strangers all of whom weren’t looking where they were going, none of them apologising or even acknowledging her. Although she loves London, in particular, Soho and its inherent eclecticism, how much better would it be if only someone knew her name? The music for "Does Anybody Know My Name?" is by Hamilton with lyrics by Susannah Pearse and Hamilton. The song was originally sung and recorded by Niamh Perry.
