Sam & Max Season One was released in partnership with GameTap, a game download service created by Turner Broadcasting. Part of the deal meant that each episode of Season One had a two week exclusivity window on GameTap before it could hit other services. The team filled the two-week gaps with whatever they had laying around, and called it "Interim Theater."
Sometimes that was a collection of short films from Graham Annable (grickle), sometimes they were behind the scenes clips, sometimes they were ... this. A web cam was run for two weeks to grow a pirate in a bottle, before the release of episode 104: Abe Lincoln Must Die. The pirate was then forgotten about for weeks or months, before he was set free for the Sam & Max Season One DVD. It was all chronicled on video for reasons unknown.
