Steve Weiss Music had the pleasure of hosting Marimba artist Matthew Coley at our in house studio in Willow Grove, PA, to demonstrate his new series of Marimba Mallets from Salyers Percussion. In this video, Matthew showcases the full line of seven models, designed to provide a complete range of sounds and articulation across the marimba.
The series includes the MC-10 Very Soft, MC-20 Soft, MC-30 Medium Soft, MC-40 Medium, MC-50 Medium Hard, MC-60 Hard, and MC-70 Very Hard. Each model is carefully balanced to give players consistent feel and response as they move through the set.
These mallets feature a custom alpaca wool yarn paired with a rubber core, producing a warm, full tone while maintaining clear articulation. The design helps avoid the brittle or thin attack that can sometimes occur with harder mallets, making the series versatile for both ensemble and solo playing.
