This rogation song to the Mother of God came out of hardship during the 11th century. In Einsiedeln this song evolved from a monophonic to a polyphonic song. From 1547 the Salve Regina has been sung right after the Vesper every day. From 1817 this time-honored tradition was never forgotten for a single day.
