ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
James Chester, Founder and CEO
James Chester is the Founder and CEO of Gumband, an award-winning SaaS platform that allows brands to control and measure their interactive environments in real time from anywhere. With his expertise spanning architectural design, marketing and tech, he has worked on multi-million dollar building and development projects, and led the digital transformation of Samsung's global media business at Starcom. In 2021, he launched Gumband as a product division out of Deeplocal, a creative technology and experience design company. Since then, Gumband has powered experiential activations and spaces for global tech and retail brands including Google, TikTok, Stripe, Meta, Activision, Nike and the NFL. James is most passionate about innovation, design, and technology, and is a member of Fast Company’s Impact Council. He is based in Nashville, TN.
Lisa Rogers, Director of Data
Dr. Lisa Rogers’ superpower is the ability to harness the powers of mathematics for the forces of good. Lisa is the Director of Data at Gumband, where she utilizes her extensive expertise in creative problem solving, mathematical modeling, data visualization, data analysis, and directing research to form the foundation for her innovative data science department.
After growing up on a farm in upstate New York, Lisa pursued her passion for dynamical systems research with a Bachelor’s degree and doctorate in Applied Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Since completing her tenure as a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at Courant Institute of Mathematics, Lisa has founded and directed an educational consulting company, collaborated with international labs to develop biological image-processing software, and established state-of-the-art data practices and pipelines.
Lisa currently lives in Brooklyn with her husband, 4 year old daughter, and dog. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys dancing, reading sci-fi, and gardening.
