Only last week, I discovered that my sixteen-month old Salomon Quest 4D 2 walking boots are falling apart. To clarify: the complete sole is coming away from the heel on one boot, while it's only partly delaminating on the other foot.
In short: this isn't good enough and there is a good amount of tread left on each sole, meaning that there is life in these boots (they were around £150), even though the waterproofing's gone.
Cotswold Outdoor, to their credit, have acknowledged this and asked me to return them for inspection. At the time of posting, I've yet to hear anything back. I'm hoping I'll be entitled to a replacement pair.
Please note: these remain to be the most comfortable walking boots I've owned. I do not intend to discourage others from considering Salomon products although, I had a very similar problem with a pair of X Ultra 3 trail shoes after only six weeks last summer.
