From Sally:
I remember learning from Reverend Alex Orbito "that we have two bodies. The one is a physical body, and the other one is our spiritual body, and we must learn to feed both to acquire balance!"
I remember having Krishnamurti's book laying on my coffee table for several years before I picked it up....
I'm still learning and choose to continue after I leave this planet! Remember Swami Paramanandji's teaching about the intellect? He told his story about someone having diabetes and being at a dinner, and he wanted the chocolate cake. His sugar level had been high, but he still wanted it. His intellect said, "Don't eat that. Your sugar's been too high and it would not be good for you at this time!" His Ego Mind said, "It won't hurt this time, and I'll just eat the little piece!"
Once we can acquire a greater understanding and a clearer awareness, we can listen closely to our intellect, which helps us with the right choices especially with important things for our highest and best! Krishnamurti said "that our intelligence is beyond our thought. It's just there. It's like the air, it doesn't need to be created by discipline or effort. All one needs to do is open the window."
Now imagine me revisiting Daniel Goleman's "Emotional Intelligence" book that now has a new introduction by the author. For so long, through teaching the medicine wheel, I knew that a lot of people were stuck in the emotion but had blocked their mental thinking. In his book on page 9 Daniel talks about the primitive part of the brain, which has two parts- the rational and the emotional. However, the emotional was first to develop in our very primitive DNA and is still there at the brain stem where the emotional centers emerged millions of years ago and that's where the neocortex, the thinking brain developed.
Also, the most ancient Root of our emotional life is the sense of smell and the olfactory lobe- the ones that take in and analyze smell. It's funny how we always say "I don't understand, but it doesn't smell right".
So, I'm going to recommend to get his latest book, "Emotional Intelligence, Why It Can Matter More Than IQ."
Yug Purush Swami Parmanandji tells me that I come in to work with the emotional body for the planet. So, I've got a ways to go! So join me in this journey!
Thank you to my spirit guides.
Longing, loving, caring, and understanding,
Swami Satchidanand
