1 sleepless day later, this cover is complete! I spent the entire weak contemplating what to do for Sunday's remix. The devilish side of me even contemplated skipping this Sunday's remix, BUT I knew I couldn't let you down! This might sound crazy, but I only decided Saturday night. So this is very much less than a day of being in a flow state. I chose SAIKAI somewhat reluctantly. Let me explain. I have a tendency to be a bit overambitious. I was afraid of not being able to do the song enough justice especially as it's my new favourite Mili song. But I figured I'd commit and go for it. If I put it off now, it would be months before I actually do it. I'm really happy with how it turned out in the end.
In terms of the arrangement itself, I stayed very very faithful to the original. There were some very tiny changes in places. This was mostly chords and occasionally removing or adding a bar. This was just a natural part of the arranging process. To give you some insight, I don't tend to plan out the piano part (first instrument I tend to record). I just start playing and see what happens. If I do something different from the original, I'll often keep it if I like how it sounds. After all, I'm not trying to 'beat' the original. That's not possible. My job in arranging is to take the original and Cory-fy it.
By the way, I didn't write sheet music for this beyond basic chords, but I'd be happy to write and share the saxophone notes if helpful to anyone. Thanks for reading!
