HOWDY NYA'LL!!! I hope everyone's staying safe out there amid the pandemic!!
Admittedly, I've been granted a lot of extra time to draw because of school shut downs, so I made myself a very self indulgent PMV with my babs!!


I was totally supposed to post this tomorrow bc it's the yr anniversary of my "Best Day" PMV (youtube.com/watch?v=q9CwHl8oXfI) BUT I WAS TO EXCITED SO UP IT GOES NOW!!!!


So the star of this PMV is my med cat apprentice OC, Pinkpaw! The basic premise of Pinkpaw's story, (mostly) outlined in the video is the following:

Pinkpaw starts her apprenticeship off as a warrior! Not for any passion or anything, but mostly because that was just the general flow of things. Unfortunately, she has a sensitivity to sunlight, which made training on her clan's sun-exposed, mountain-side territory very difficult. The sunlight would hurt her eyes, and more often than not, a training session would end with her in the medicine den with the clan's med cat, Fuzzyfern, being treated for blurry vision and a nasty migraine.

Eventually, she starts falling behind in her training, and with her spending more and more time in the med den, Fuzzy asks if perhaps she'd like to try being a medicine cat. As the territory was p safe at night, they could leave at sunset to gather herbs (and ofc, the mooncave to talk to Startclan is visited at night). Pinkpaw, who was feeling really crappy about not helping out her clan, jumped at the opportunity.

BUUUUUT, as many things are, being a med cat apprentice was very difficult. Pinkpaw was struggling to remember herbs and what they do, and even with Fuzzyfern's constant reassurance, she couldn't help but look at her thriving clan, and close warriors, and feel bad that she couldn't contribute.

Feeling down, Pinkpaw finds herself naturally drawn to her clan's only elder/resident old bastard man, Fogfrost, whom often can be found gazing at the sky outside the cave. She pad's up to him, the sun entering the cave almost impossibly bright. She can see the corner of his face, but he doesn't turn further to look at her.

In that moment, it felt like he knew everything, and with the sweep of his tail, that moved to curl around his paws, he began to speak.

"Sometimes we rush toward the future, criticizing every paw step we take. But, it's always important to remember that no flower blooms overnight."

Pinkpaw couldn't help the tears that sprung to her eyes, her disappointment with herself overflowing. She swallowed thickly, just as the old tom turned toward her and held out a paw. Naturally, she held out hers. With a gently brush of paw pads, Pinkpaw look at the seed that was dropped in her paw, a small sprout pushing its way out into the world.

"Even if it doesn't look like it for a while, this seed is constantly growing and changing; what matters is that it's given the time to do so," Fogfrost mewed. "Give yourself that same patience." Pinkpaw's eyes widened, and with a gentle brush against her side, Fogfrost padded his way back into the cave, leaving Pinkpaw in the now dimming glow of sunset.

Long after that moment, after that crusty old bastard passed away, she sometimes feels as if he's still supporting and encouraging her. She can't help but turn back to smile whenever she feels his presence.
