In this first look at the S-993A desoldering gun, it does a good job of extracting solder from some multi-pin headers and screw terminals, and it also seems to have no trouble heating up large ground planes on a video card multi layer PCB!
More testing would be needed to see how it really performs on large thermal mass boards, and the right size tips should be used for larger or smaller pins to get a better vacuum seal, but for a first try, it went well.
