Create layered 3D woodland animals with interchangeable backgrounds with this beginner-friendly project!
I love seasonal decor because it makes refreshing your surroundings so very easy! That's my goal with these cute 3D woodland animals designs. Each animal SVG comes in a layered background to represent spring, summer, winter, or fall. Additionally, the animals are separate from the rest of the pieces, so they're interchangeable. These are like, dare I say it, paper Garanimals — the mix-and-match outfits kids wore in the '70s (yes, including me). I think you're going to LOVE these fun animal frames!

Learn how to sublimate on cotton and dark colors using different materials for fantastic results! Sublimation creates beautiful designs, but the high polyester content it requires can limit your project options. What if you want to decorate an item with natural fibers? I definitely prefer cotton shirts over a polyester shirt! Well I'll teach you how to sublimate on cotton! We'll look at several different ways to use my free t-shirt designs (you can also use the other options in my resource library!) and explore the pros and cons of each cotton sublimation project. Some of the techniques have special results to make your work really glow! I'll also show you how each technique fares once its washed and dried.

Custom T-shirts are so much fun to make, but how do you get the design placed perfectly? Too high or too low and they just don't look right! Not to worry, you can make your own T-shirt ruler guide for any kind of shirt from infant to adult! After all, making your own tools and project accessories is one of the best parts of being a Cricut crafter! I'll show you how to make them out of either cardstock or plastic (wait 'til you see what we're using!) and how to use them with my free ruler patterns. Your new T-shirt rulers will work for any of my custom T-shirt projects, whether it's iron-on vinyl, sublimation, or even screen printing!

Correct placement can be the difference between success and sadness for T-shirt projects! If you get it wrong, the design might be hard to read or uncomfortable to wear. Not to fear, you can make the perfect T-shirt alignment tool using your Cricut! I'll show you how to use my free SVGs to make a t-shirt ruler guide out of cardstock or plastic.
Which should you make? It depends on your different needs!
If you make the paper version in premium quality cardstock like the kind in my material list, it will hold up for many uses. It might be easier to use if you have vision trouble since we'll draw the markings on top using a Cricut pen before cutting it on a StandardGrip mat.
But if you might need to see the fabric's surface during alignment -- like if you're using a patterned shirt -- or plan to make A LOT of shirts, the chopping mat version is easier to make than you might think and extremely durable. It actually just takes a fine-point blade and StrongGrip mat!
Once you've made a T-shirt ruler guide tool, how do you use it?
The video shows you, but basically you place your T-shirt ruler on your vertically creased T-shirt. You don’t want it on the edge of the collar of the t-shirt, but on the seam. Then, place the top of the similarly creased design right at the bottom of the ruler (though sometimes it goes higher or lower, I'll show you in the video!). This is extra helpful if your design doesn't have a uniform top edge. You'll get consistent alignment on multiple shirts using my T-shirt ruler guide collection!
My example shirts use one layer, but for extra help on vinyl alignment in a more than one piece design, check out my tutorial on How to Layer Vinyl.

To make a cardstock T-shirt alignment ruler, you will need:
* 110 lb, 8.5" x 11" Cardstock in a color that will stand out on shirts - amzn.to/3cxVM1R
* Fine-tip pen - amzn.to/3CzAbiz
* 12" x 12" StandardGrip Machine Mat - amzn.to/3f0qoKe
To make the plastic T-shirt ruler guides, you will need:
* 11" x 14" plastic chopping mats, which you can purchase from the Dollar Tree website at shrsl.com/3o2xr
-or- on Amazon - amzn.to/3RHJQJp
* 12" x 12" StrongGrip Machine Mat - amzn.to/3f0qoKe
And for either version, you want:
* A way to cut your T-shirt rulers and vinyl. I used the amazing Cricut Maker 3 but you can also use the original Maker or an Explore series machine with the Fine-Point Blade - see jennifermaker.com/which-cricut-should-i-buy
Measuring tape - amzn.to/3CAPlEt
, scissors, weeding tool, and brayer.
To make the custom t-shirts, you'll also need:
* A shirt of your preference - I tried several with good results including an Adult Unisex crew neck - amzn.to/3B0NQQ8 , a Cotton Ladies V-Neck, a Youth T-Shirt, baby onesies, and a sweatshirt
* Iron-on vinyl - I used Cricut Everday Iron-On in yellow at amzn.to/3cAnFXb and Holographic Iron-On in red and cobalt - amzn.to/3dZV6me
* An appropriate heat press - I used my EasyPress 2 - amzn.to/3wJtZCB

Paper Cut Light Boxes are so beautiful, and I love to make them -- that's why you see one in every one of my videos at the start! So many of you have written to me to tell me you love my video animation sequence and want to make it yourself, and now you can! The original is very detailed -- it was designed digitally by my daughter Alexa and I last year using Adobe Illustrator and Blender. It represents all the things I love ... home, community, creativity, nature, and most of all, my family. That's Alexa and I in the swing there in the middle! We don't have this place in real life yet.... but we are looking for it!
Now it's important to note this digital design can show intricate pixels much easier than Cricuts can cut paper, so I’ve simplified it just a bit. It’s still just as peaceful and makes me want to fall right in!
We’ll also chat about how to handle all those intricate cuts and ways to light your paper cut scenes, too.
These pre-designed paper cut light boxes are cool, but what if you want to change it up a little bit. There are SO many paper cut designs out there, but they will always be a little better if you can add a personal touch of your own.
So I’m not only sharing the layered design, I’ll also show you how to customize a scene like this in Cricut Design Space. Then you can use the steps to add your own style to this design, or an entirely different design!
And it gets better! If you don’t want to use a premade shadow box, I’ve designed one you can make out of cardstock. Once you have the steps down, you can make custom light boxes from scratch!
The tools and materials are pretty simple, but it’s important to pick and prepare them well to get the best results.
High-quality paper is very important, especially for the intricate cuts and structure of the frame. I used mostly Recollection cardstock and had great results.
I recommend using a fresh LightGrip machine mat, that’s the blue one, for your layers. Use a brayer to adhere the cardstock really well. We do that in most projects, but that step REALLY helps when you’re cutting large cardstock designs with such intricate details. And make sure your fine-point blade is clean and free of little bits of paper or whatever. I’ll show you a trick to help keep it clean!
I also recommend you have a scraper on hand to gently remove any leftover pieces right away after cutting. Tiny pieces stuck under the next piece can really mess up your cuts.
And when it’s time to remove your delicate layers, you can use a spatula to gently release them from the mat. If some cutoffs are stuck, use tweezers to carefully pull them off. A weeding tool also helps poke out tiny bits. Be careful not to tear your layers as they will let light through where you don’t want it.

A new version of Cricut Design Space for Desktop – version 7.20 – is starting to roll out and there are several wonderful new features and important changes I want to show you, as they will change how you’re using the software for the better. These changes also impact my tutorials – specifically the location of Weld – and I want to be sure you know how to find it!
The big change in this version is the Layers Panel – you can see how it looked before this version on the left side of the screen , and how it looks now on the right. First, let me reassure you that EVERYTHING is still here and nothing has been removed. Note that the icons are still here at the top, though they have been streamlined in the new version. The layers are all here, but you can now rename them, and the buttons at the bottom are there … you’ll note that Weld appears to be missing, and in its place there’s a Combine button. If you’re watching this video to figure out where Weld went, it’s right under the Combine button… but as you’ll see, there’s so much more there now, too.
Let’s look closer at each change. First, the buttons above the Layers Panel – before we had four buttons: Group, Ungroup, Duplicate, and Delete. Now we have Group & Ungroup merged into one button, and Duplicate and Delete just like before. The labels are no longer underneath the buttons, presumably to make more room for something yet to come, so if you can’t remember which button is which, just hover your mouse over them and the label pops up!
The Group button will darken when you have two or more layers selected, like this. And when you have a group selected, the button will change to Ungroup. I like this change – no need to have two buttons there when one will do.
Below these buttons, in the Layers Panel itself, Cricut has added a feature that we’ve all been requesting for a long time – the ability to RENAME layers. To rename a layer, just double-click on a layer name and an edit box will appear that you can type right into. When you’re done renaming, just press the enter or return key on your keyboard, or click somewhere else on the Canvas. You can also rename a layer by right-clicking on it with your mouse or tapping on your trackpad with two fingers to access the drop-down menu and then just choose rename at the top.
Now down at the bottom of the Layers Panel, we used to have Slice, Weld, Attach, Flatten, and Contour, and these are all the same except the new Combine menu is where Weld used to be. Note that these buttons will all appear “greyed out” and unclickable until we select at two layers on the canvas, like these layers in my new cake topper. Now we can see all the options. If we click once on Combine, we get a menu with new options – Weld is at the top, followed by four new functions – Unite, Subtract, Intersect, and Exclude. These are really special functions that I think you’re going to love. Functions like this are included in software like Adobe Illustrator, which I’ve been using for over 30 years, and I’m excited to see them come to Cricut Design Space! Let’s see how each one works in this video!

Well, yes, BUT, you have to handle them all differently to get the best Cricut vinyl results, especially when you’re cutting them. Which side goes up? What’s the best pressure? How do you weed it? If you've never used the Cricut Print Then Cut feature with your specific printer - or if it's been a while - calibrate your machine's settings before starting. It’s easy and worth the time to avoid surprises! Without calibration, your projects might not look right.
But there’s an easy way to fix it!
In a new Cricut Design Space window, click the three lines in the upper left corner, then select "Calibration."
Select "Print Then Cut." Then, follow the prompts to select your printer and print a test sheet. These windows will look slightly different depending on your computer and printer.
Then, place the test sheet on your blue LightGrip machine mat according to the prompts on the screen. Load it into your Cricut and cut the test design.
Your Cricut will perform many straight cuts that may or may not line up with the coded lines. This will help you tell the Cricut if it needs to re-calibrate.
Do NOT unload your mat until the Calibration test is complete.
Answer the questions in Design Space about the cut results. If the calibration was off, you may need to print another test sheet and check the settings once more.
Keep working on the calibration process until your cuts look good.
Also, clean the print heads on your inkjet printer for the best print quality. Consult the printer's manual for the specific steps as they vary.
Your Cricut is ready to print then cut with ease! Let me demonstrate how it works with my Care Cards.

I love to craft for fun – it’s a great creative outlet and I always have great gifts! But have you considered selling your work? I know many of you have, but maybe you’re not sure what to make. To help you, I’ve gathered 12 of my favorite Cricut projects to SELL, from mugs to T-shirts! And, I’m sharing some handy Print then Cut care card designs for your customers (or gift recipients!) that you can include with several of the items!
One reason that handmade items sell well is that they take time to learn, special tools, and skills – three things many people don’t have! But I bet you do! And selling your Cricut crafts can be a great great way to earn extra money.
There are several things to consider when picking Cricut projects to sell:
What do you like to make?
If you’re going to make Cricut projects to sell, pick products you like to craft. That way, when success strikes and you’re swimming in orders, you get to do things you like. While crafting can be a source of income, do your best to keep it enjoyable so it doesn’t just feel like Work.
What tools and materials do you have?
When you’re just starting out, use what you have instead of investing in new tools and the cost of materials. For example, if you have a Cricut Explore Air, there are plenty of Cricut projects to sell you can make. You don’t need to jump to a Maker right away! Wait until your Cricut business
Will you sell in-person or are you open to shipping?
Do you want the potential exposure of an Etsy shop or would you prefer to sell locally at craft fairs? If you open an online shop, be prepared to deal with shipping, which may impact the projects you pick and create an additional cost.
What sells well in the market you want to try?
This is fun research to do! Visit local events, look at similar Cricut small businesses online, or look in seller Facebook groups. What are the best selling Cricut projects? Is there an unmet demand in your area that you can meet? That’s a great way to start!
Do you want to make many small items or a few more involved products?
Smaller, easy crafts like vinyl decals might not have the same price point as custom wooden signs, but they can even out depending on your quantities. Fast Cricut project ideas that become your best sellers can be just as profitable! This is especially true if you make items for events like baby showers. And the great thing about fast projects is you can squeeze them in around activities in your busy life.
Are you confident customizing designs?
If you are comfortable with Cricut Design Space, one of the best things for your Cricut craft business is customization. By offering customers the personal touch of adding a name, date, or other detail, your side hustle will take off!
There are so many Cricut projects to sell, and these are some of my suggestions!

Sublimation crafting is trending, and — more importantly — SUPER FUN! If you've already got a sublimation machine (aka sublimation printer,) you know exactly what I mean. It's a real game-changer for crafting!
The biggest hurdle to sublimation is getting the right sublimation printer. So I took four sublimation printers (Sawgrass, Epson F170, EcoTank, and WorkForce) and compared them on price, availability, quality, speed, everything ... all so you can see how they line up and then pick the one that is right for you and your needs! Find out which sublimation printer I thought was the winner in this video.

Learn to engrave leather with Cricut machines and make adorable bookmarks in this tutorial!
A big shoutout to designer and educator Kay Hall, who pioneered this technique on her YouTube channel — check out her "Tooling Leather with Your Cricut" video at youtu.be/ryhplBTcF_I
I really love experimenting with different Cricut tools and materials. But I love sharing the results with you even more! This time, I’m excited to share how to engrave leather with Cricut machines to make custom bookmarks. I already cut genuine leather with a Cricut cutting machine already, but I wondered if we could do some sort of leather tooling or engraving with it, too. After some experimenting and help from the talented Kay Hall at cleversomeday.com, I’ve found ways to engrave leather with both the Cricut Maker and Cricut Explore machines. And, my favorite method involves the foil transfer kit! I love finding new uses for tools we already have!
To teach you this cool technique, I made some engraved leather bookmarks that are both fun and functional – my favorite kind of gift! The bookmark collection is free for you to download and learn with, and it includes several designs for you to pick from:
“I love you to the moon and back” with the moon and stars,
“Eat sleep read repeat” with an open book,
a simple floral design with daisies,
and “dream believe achieve” surrounded by hearts.

Have you ever lost your fonts in Cricut Design Space? If so, you’re not alone. And as a NEW Design Space update is rolling out for fonts, I thought this was a great opportunity to show you how to find your fonts in Cricut Design Space for Desktop!
First, let’s take a look at the updated Fonts menu. To see it, let’s click on Text to add some text to this project. Once this Text box appears, you can start typing immediately to enter your text.
To select a font, click on the Fonts menu right here in Design Space. By default, the Fonts menu shows you Cricut fonts, as indicated by the first tab on the left here. If you are trying to find your fonts installed on your computer, they will not show up in this first list, as it is ONLY Cricut fonts. To find your installed fonts, click on System right here. Under the System tab, you can scroll through the list – it’s in alphabetical order – but it’s faster to search for the font you want. For example, if I want to search for the font I designed – Maker Penwriting – I can type “Maker into the search bar and either click on this magnifying glass icon or simply press Return or Enter on my keyboard. My font pops up right away, and you can click it to select it. Your text changes instantly to your font. This font, by the way, is a single-line writing font based on my own handwriting. I made it to help me fill out Christmas present tags and cards using my Cricut. Your welcome to use it, too, and can get this writing font free on my blog at jennifermaker.com/writing-font
But let’s take another look at the Font menu, because there’s more I want to show you. Let’s clear out this search by clicking the X and look closer at the Cricut fonts list, which again, is the default list. You can also scroll or search the Cricut font list. This is a very long list, so it can be hard to find the Cricut font you want. I have three big tips to help you find the font you need!
First, uncheck the box next to “Kerned.” By default, the list will only show you kerned Cricut fonts – kerned fonts are awesome, but not all fonts are kerned and keeping that checkbox checked means you’re not seeing all the fonts. Kerned fonts mean the characters are spaced proportionally from one another, and they tend to look better. But there’s plenty of awesome fonts without kerning, too. So if you don’t see your font, click off “kerned” so you see everything!
Second tip – use the Filters option over here on the right. Clicking this brings up the ability to filter by a variety of types, including Writing fonts – one of my favorites – and Free fonts. So when I click on “Free” I see all the free Cricut fonts available right now. You can also combine filters, so we can look for free writing fonts by checking both “Free” and “writing.” And when you’re done filtering, just click on “Clear All” to see everything again.
Third tip — use the newly introduced Bookmarks feature! Whenever you see a font – whether it’s a Cricut font or a System font, you can click on this bookmark icon on the right side. Then click on the Bookmarks tab at the top here to see your favorite fonts. This is the solution for everyone who has ever lamented how long it takes to scroll the fonts list to find what they want. Just bookmark your favorites and go right to it when you need a font.

Learn two different methods for making DIY fridge magnets with a Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore cutting machine!
I really love Cricut DIY projects that combine different skills. Once you gain confidence in various techniques, you can mix and match, and apply what you know to create even more fun projects. Making DIY fridge magnets with Cricut machines is a perfect example. They combine Print then Cut techniques with different materials and are so fun to make. If you’ve learned how to make stickers, some of the steps will be familiar. And they’re a great addition to your family or business command center! I’ll show you my favorite tips for cute magnets for fridge decor and great projects.

Another new version of Cricut Design Space for Desktop is rolling out this week, and with it come some awesome new keyboard shortcuts. These shortcuts let you do things faster and easier, and I think of they as “cool keyboard and mouse tricks.” So I thought I’d show you a few of these Cricut Design Space Tips & Tricks – some I’ve been using for years, and some that are brand new with this update – to help you Cricut faster, too!
Topics in this video:
0:00 - New Cricut Design Space Update
1:08 - Use Command (Mac) or Control (Windows)
1:15 - Undo Shortcut
1:25 - Copy Shortcut
1:29 - Past Shortcut
1:35 - Delete Shortcut
1:52 - Scroll wheel on mouse
2:28 - Arrow keys
3:28 - Select All shortcut
3:43 - Send Forward or Backward
4:19 - Secret Menu
So here we are in Design Space version 7.12. And I'm going to rapidly copy and paste this word, "So cool" here, using the keyboard. Watch this, I copy it. And then I paste it. That fast! Using the keyboard can REALLY speed up your Design Space work. So let me show you a few simple tried-and-true tricks that you can use right away. Maybe you know these all ready, so if you do, I promise to show you some new ones at the end, too!
First of all, we can undo everything we just did. And while we can just go up here and click the Undo icon, I can actually press Command or Control depending on which keyboard I have – Mac or Windows – along with the Z key. So Command Z or Control Z to undo all of those extra things. Just like this. There we go. I did all of that using my keyboard.
And you can copy with Command C or Control C and you can paste it with Command V or Control V, just like this. And then you can delete it using the Delete key on the Mac or the Backspace key on Windows, just like this. This is SO much faster than looking for the right icon on your screen and moving over there to click it.
You can also scroll your canvas using your mouse. So if you use the scroll wheel on your mouse, you can move up and down your canvas, just like this. And if you hold down the Shift key on either the Mac or Windows, you can scroll to the left and right, just like this. And again, you don’t have to come down here or over there to do this, which is normally what we’d have to do. So it’s faster!
So again, it's just scrolling with the mouse wheel. Ahen if you hold down the Shift key, you can move left. And move right!
Another thing I really love are the arrow keys on the keyboard. So for example, if you want to move this word "tricks" to the left or right, you can just use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move it left and right like this. And of course you can go up and down as well. This is so great because you can do this and keep things in line. Notice how it's staying on its plane as I move? When I use the left and right keys, and it's going up and down when I use the up and down keys.
So what if you want to go just a little more? I hold down the Shift key as you do it! Now when you tap the up and down arrows on your keyboard, you can move by an inch at a time. So just using the arrow key, it goes an eighth of an inch, but using the shift key, moves it an inch in either direction or up or down.

Learn how to make customizable paper handbags & purses for a gift bag they won't forget! Confession time. I really love purses! They're such a fun way to finish an outfit. Bonus points if they fit the things I need while looking cute! I had form, function, and FUN in mind while designing my new paper handbags, and purses and they're ready for you! They're a step higher in skill and style from my DIY Gift Bags from a few weeks ago, but are so adorable. I try not to have favorites, but the Daisy Duke Wallet might be the winner. It's perfect for gift cards and fits in well with so many of my small paper box patterns!
These paper handbags may look intimidating, but we'll go over the simple steps together! I've included lots of personalization options and even some special tool versions like a debossed purse!
My collection includes four designer paper purse patterns. But good news, they cost a fraction of the price of a Birkin -- at least from what I've heard. Which one do you want to make first?

Learn how to make paper dahlia flowers with simple materials in this easy-to-follow tutorial! Paper flowers were some of the first decorations I learned to make with a Cricut. Since then, I’ve shared more than a dozen original paper flower SVGs and love seeing your creations. Today, it’s time for a new one: the paper dahlia in three styles! I just love dahlias and all the different forms they have. I designed two different types of dahlias to capture some of their diversity. And since the flowers come in so many different sizes, I’ve included ways to make paper dahlias from 4.5″ to almost 20″! With all these versions and the nearly endless cardstock options, you can make your own flower show! Let me show you how in this paper dahlia tutorial!

Today I'm going to show you how to convert an Epson EcoTank printer into a sublimation printer, which I think is the best budget sublimation for beginners. We'll go from package to print to press. And you're going to be amazed at how easy this is to do! I have a brand new Epson EcoTank 4760 for this video, but what I'm going to show you should work for ANY Epson EcoTank printer, regardless of what model number it is. What matters is that it is an Epson EcoTank.
It's also important that you start with a brand new Epson EcoTank and never put the regular inkjet ink that comes with it into the printer. You want a clean and unused Epson printer for this conversion process. While I believe it is possible to clean and convert an Epson EcoTank that's already had ink in it, I've never done it myself and so I'm not able to help you there. Your best bet is to start with a new Epson EcoTank printer to which NO ink has ever been added.
Topics covered in this video:
0:00 - The Epson EcoTank
0:23 - What You Need
2:57 - Step 1: Unpack Your Printer
3:14 - Step 2: Fill Your Ink Tanks
7:30 - Step 3: Connect the Power Cord to Your Printer
9:21 - Step 4: Test Your Print Quality
14:17 - Step 5: Connect the Printer to Your Computer

WHAT YOU NEED TO CONVERT YOUR EPSON ECOTANK TO SUBLIMATION:
* An Epson EcoTank printer (any model, preferably brand new without any ink in the tanks yet) - amzn.to/3LjKERA
* (Optional) A USB printer cable (it's faster and more reliable than Bluetooth!) - amzn.to/3sEKD4b
* Autofill bottles of sublimation ink (I recommend Hiippo brand) — avoid getting the ink that you have to use a syringe with! - amzn.to/3PnLMqw
* Sublimation paper (or laser copy paper if you don't have any sublimation paper yet) - amzn.to/3l7uobQ
* A desktop or laptop computer, Mac or Windows
* (Optional) ICC Printer Profiles for your ink -- here are the Hiipoo printer profiles: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1b5sQi1fiho5oG8AqBKyK40Lu0scFp1dB
* (Optional) Something to test your colors with (you can use my "subliflower" available free in my resource library — look for design #383 at jennifermaker.com/library)

The Cricut 2x2 Card mat works with pre-cut and pre-folded Cricut Insert Cards, Cutaway Cards, and Foil Transfer Cards, as well as cardstock that you pre-cut and fold yourself.
A larger-sized card mat that works with the Cricut Maker and Explore Series is something so many have been asking for and it’s finally here! The new two by two mat can cut up FOUR CARDS at one time! How cool is that? Everyone knows I love testing out new products and I have learned A LOT experimenting with the new, larger mat and all the new card sizes! I’ve made some mistakes along the way and gone through a lot of materials…but all in an effort to make your crafting experience more fun and less fuss…
So first, the basics. The Cricut two by two card mat measures 13 inches by 16 and one quarter inches. You can use all four areas at one time or just one panel if that’s all you need. The mat works with all the Maker machines and Explore series machines.

One of my favorite features of Cricut cutting machines is the level of intricate detail they're capable of cutting! These smart machines can cut, draw, and score tiny details on so many materials. Cutting cardstock PERFECTLY for layered designs can take some practice, though. I'm excited to share my best tips for cutting intricate cardstock designs. Tiny details made me think of one of my favorite wonders of nature: hummingbirds! So, an update to my layered Hummingbird seems like a perfect opportunity to share my best tips on making intricate cuts on Cricut machines.
