Of COURSE I had to edit a video with these two. It's the law!! They're best friends! They're soulmates! They're everything!!!!!!!!!
This ended up being, like...a companion video to my State Lines one. A fraternal twin, if you will. Novo Amor as a coincidental tether for both of Grace's key relationships in the story. For this one, any analysis I've seen for this song frames it as about one-sided/unrequited/unstable love, the struggle of letting go of a past relationship, loving someone who's already left, etc. BUT!!! In this context, I tried to frame it more around how circumstantial their relationship is and the love and heartbreak surrounding that. Instead of their relationship itself being unstable, it's the circumstances around them: their respective stars are dying, and assuming they even survive the mission, they know they'll have to leave each other at the end. The way they grounded each other and kept each other alive and were each other's reasons to keep going. Grace's decision at the end that, no, maybe he doesn't have to leave; maybe they can actually come back to each other. Is this all we've ever been? You just need someone to be brave for. Anchor up to me, love. FUUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK. I'm so normal about this fucking movie. I'm the normalest person in the world. I promise
I think this will be my last PHM video (and/or video in general?) for the next little while, since my work and personal life will pick back up this month and I'll have much less time to fuck around in DR all day aflksdjalkj. I'd also love to have a full quality copy of the movie for my remaining video ideas, which probably won't happen for at least a few more weeks? We'll see. In the meantime I hope you enjoy this one :)
