We need to have a serious conversation about what’s happening on the continent. I’ve been seeing these videos of a Russian guy, "Yetis Official," making his rounds in Kenya and Ghana, using Meta glasses to secretly record his interactions with African women. He’s approaching them on the street, getting them back to his place, and even recording sexual encounters to sell online—all without their consent.
But while we can rightfully call for this man to be deported and arrested for his predatory behavior, we have to look at the "why." Why does he feel so comfortable doing this in Africa? It’s the result of an ecosystem of white worship and a lack of self-esteem that has been building up for decades. I see it all the time, especially in East Africa—this "white savior" mentality where people feel they are worth less than a foreigner. Whether it’s a woman throwing herself at a man twice her age or someone afraid to ask for a fair wage because they don’t feel they deserve it, the lack of confidence is being exploited.
This guy is essentially performing "sexual arbitrage"—he’s profiting off the dysfunction and the poverty that makes some of our people feel like they have to say yes to any foreigner who shows them attention. He wouldn't get this kind of run in Poland or Hungary, and we all know why. Until we start valuing ourselves and building an environment where Africans feel confident and empowered in their own skin, people will continue to come here and expose our vulnerabilities.
It's time to wake up and address the root cause of this white worship.
