Russia does not have a doomsday station. The ridiculous name has become synonymous with UVB-76, better known as The Buzzer and this year, we seem to be inundated with ludicrous stories on the net and on YouTube that include this tag line.
Laughable news outlets have even claimed that it’s already triggered World War III. I suppose you can expect that from tabloid news companies.
Every time The Buzzer is jammed, every time it can’t be heard and every time traffic is sent on the channel, we’re awash with clickbait articles.
I don’t know why it’s become so prevalent in more recent months. Jamming and interference, pauses and traffic is nothing new with The Buzzer.
In this instalment I wanted to go back 25 years to a different time and tell you where this idea came from, which is important because where it came from, and where it comes from today are two very different things.
