This year, Wyee Brigade members Russell and Gwendoline Deaves celebrated 65 years of marriage – that’s longer than Australia has had colour TV, the dollar or wine in a box.
Russ became a founding member of Wyee Brigade the year after their wedding, with Gwen coming onboard as one of the crew’s first female firefighters shortly after. Not ones to shy away from a long-term commitment, the couple remain an important part of the brigade to this day.
