For the last several weeks, we've gone over lost, neglected NPCs. Characters that many people may have either forgotten about, or never really paid much attention to in the first place. But even more well known characters can be neglected, especially if their story remains unfinished.
Bob the Cat is one of the most well known characters in Runescape, and yet even he isn't immune to being forgotten about. Once the legendary hero Robert the Strong, he was somehow reincarnated as a cat. Robert somehow knew of his reincarnation, which would also take place hundreds of years after his time. He also seemed to know of a way to turn him back into a human. Yet despite multiple calamities with the Dragonkin, we never once consider trying to turn him back for his knowledge or experience. Bob isn't forgotten in the traditional sense, but his story and place in the game certainly is.
In this week's Hotspot, we'll be going over some ideas on how we can finally wrap up this plot thread. While Old School solves this by just, killing Bob, I think we can find a more elegant solution. Using the Desert series as our source of inspiration, especially since Bob was first introduced narratively through that series, I want to workshop a quest that ties up a lot of loose ends that the Return to Desert miniseries didn't bring up. For this, Amascut will be trying to address some of her sins, while incidentally finishing Bob's story.
