Went for an uptempo run around Lake Union in Seattle with @drewwhitcomb in the Brooks Hyperion Elite 5. The shoe features DNA Gold (Peba) and a carbon Speedvault+ plate. I believe they’re calling the cutouts on the side a double boomerang, and I do think it helps keep the shoe feeling soft in the midfoot despite the plate position that scoops down low into the forefoot.
The shoe is quite different than Hyperion Elite 4PB, which is what I was hoping/expecting. But I do think they could have gone further. While the forefoot is refreshingly dynamic for a Brooks racer, I was hoping for a bit more. Nevertheless, this feels like Brooks has finally entered the chat
(Note: if you’re a heel striker or otherwise like shoes like the VF3 or MetaSpeed Edge, the Hyperion Elite 4PB was probably already that shoe for you)
