Thorpe Parks only inverted roller coaster
Burst through the fiery pit at the heart of a steaming volcano. Nemesis Inferno takes an iconic thrill ride and turns up the heat… With your legs hanging freely below you on this inverted coaster, try not to let your feet get burnt!
Spin, dive and swoop around 750 metres of twisted steel track, at speeds of up to 50mph. Our red-hot inverted vertical loop coaster, will point your feet straight up to the sky. Can you do a headstand? You can now!
Thorpe Park is situated on the site of a former quarry on the border between Chertsey and Egham in Surrey, England.
In the late 1970s, the company Ready Mixed Concrete Limited flooded the site after the quarrys closure with the intention of opening an educational leisure park. In 1998, the park was purchased by the Tussauds Group, the then-owner of Alton Towers and Chessington World of Adventures. Tussauds added the majority of Thorpe Parks large rides during the 2000s, such as Colossus, Nemesis Inferno and Stealth. In 2007, Thorpe Park fell into the ownership of Merlin Entertainments after it purchased the Tussauds Group. Merlin decided to orient the park and its additions directly towards teenagers and young adults. This resulted in rides such as Saw - The Ride and The Swarm. However in 2014, Merlin decided to reposition the park back towards a more well-rounded age demographic with family-oriented additions such as Angry Birds Land, Im A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! and the parks onsite hotel.
For 2024, a new brand was introduced which incorporated a new logo and the tagline, The Home Of Feel-Good Thrills.[1]

History
The first details for this roller coaster were revealed in 2000. It was planned to be the tallest inverted roller coaster at a height of 81 metres tall with a 61 metres tall vertical loop, which would have been the highest inversion.[1] The plans were reduced in scale, with the final coaster being 50.9 metres tall.
The attraction originally opened as the Jubilee Odyssey on 25 May 2002 to commemorate the golden jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.
After the first season of operation, some areas of track were adjusted and lowered in height. This included the Horseshoe, the hammerhead, and the Sidewinder.
For the 2014 season, the ride was renamed to just Odyssey.
In 2016, the colour scheme was changed from red track with white supports to yellow track with slate grey supports.[2]

Come for a pov video of the ride The Smiler Alton Towers. I use my DJI Osmo Action 6 to record this ride. I have put the links for Alton Towers website, merlins website as they run all the big theme parks in England ( thrope park, LEGOLAND and Chessington World Of Adventures) and DJI website below. I also will put the address down below of chessington world of adventures.
The Smiler is a steel roller coaster located at Alton Towers in Alton, Staffordshire, England, UK. The attraction was manufactured by Gerstlauer and is a prototype Infinity Coaster.[2] The ride is positioned where the Black Hole was formerly located, on the opposite side of Oblivion. It is the first roller coaster to feature fourteen inversions, and still holds the inversion world record today.
Due to teething problems, the coaster did not open on the planned date of 23 May 2013. The ride eventually opened a week later on 31 May.
Plans were submitted for SW7 in late December 2011.[3] Documents were later revealed showing that it was a custom Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster. Planning permission was granted on 15 March 2012, despite opposition from both Alton and Farley Parish councils.
The structure that previously housed the Black Hole was dismantled in April.[4] Ride hardware started arriving in September and vertical construction began on 7 December.[5]
Merlin Entertainments filed a trademark for the name The Smiler in November 2012. In January 2013, an advertising and social media campaign was launched that saw the smiling face logo projected on to various buildings and photographs circulated of the logo spray-painted on the side of sheep. On 20 January, posters appeared in London with The Smiler, and this name was confirmed via a newspaper article the following day.[6]
The ride was originally scheduled to open for the start of the season on 16 March 2013, however due to the ride falling behind schedule the opening was pushed back to May.
The rides track was completed in April 2013 and a new opening date of 23 May was announced.[7] However, the day before the planned opening, Alton Towers announced that due to unforeseen teething problems, the opening had been pushed back again. The Smiler finally opened to the public on 31 May 2013.[5]

Vampire is a steel suspended roller coaster located at Chessington World of Adventures in Chessington, Greater London, England, UK. It opened in 1990 in the new Transylvania area of the park. The ride was designed by John Wardley and manufactured by Arrow Dynamics.
The ride station is heavily themed as a very gothic abbey, using dim lighting and dramatic music. The queue line passes through a graveyard, before heading through a crypt and dark corridor which leads to the loading platform. Of particular note is the animatronic organist within the station which plays a large pipe organ along to the theme music close to entering the graveyard themed area.
As Vampire showed its age, it suffered from numerous breakdowns and maintenance problems. At this point, the rides manufacturer, Arrow Dynamics, had gone bankrupt, meaning little could be done to rectify these issues. The Vampire had to close for the latter half of the 2000 season, and at this time it was thought to be permanent. However, instead of being removed, the decision was made to modify the ride, and also add excitement with brand new floorless trains built by Vekoma.[citation needed]
A few changes to the track were made, but nothing major, as this would require planning permission (which was unlikely to be granted). The trains were replaced with new Vekoma trains, which are nearly identical to the ones seen on their Suspended Family Coaster model. Also, certain parts of the supports were removed, to allow for a larger clearance envelope because of the new trains. The modified ride reopened in 2002, with the current trains still operating today. They provide a totally different riding experience.[citation needed]
