The strat comes in 5 parts:
0:00 - Getting up to the Chuckya platform
The easiest step and the same as most other WDW stars
0:56 - Getting Chuckya to the platform below
To get this it's important to both get the dive early as well as DR quickly
1:26 - Clipping into the box with Chuckya
This part took a lot of different strategies to do but luring chuckya into the corner, getting thrown on top of the box, groundpounding after the chuckya's in a specific spot, then running back and grabbing was what I settled upon.
2:27 - Clipping down into the pipe
This was definitely the hardest part and took a lot of practice, but getting good joystick movement and slide-kicking ASAP is what's important. (Also there's a chance that chuckya throws you out of bounds after you get grabbed which I'm glad I didn't get)
3:02 - Cloning the star
Pretty much the same as in DDD except you have to go back up for air every now and again, I kinda got unlucky with how long it took but eh, what was I gonna do.

In my first runthrough of this star, I had done it 0.5xA (https://youtube.com/watch?v=dZ8EIL130JI), using edge lift to get the star 0.5xA, but yesterday Dendonodon showed that you can bring the goomba to the end of the stage and get up that way, saving the half A Press (https://youtu.be/VTloLDs5lTI) So I really quickly reTASed the star from the beginning of the level and without infinite starbits. Now its actually a really neat star with the goomba escort.")

So this strat is p cool not only because it saves an A press, but as far as I know it is the first required use of P2 in SMG1 ABC, as well as the first Mario-exclusive A press save in SMG1 and SMG2?
What happens is that the cannonballs have some sort of timer where after a while the cannonball just disappears, but apparently if you stop the cannonball with P2, it resets the timer so if you keep moving the cursor over the cannonball every few seconds, you can get the cannonballs to move what appears to just be arbitrarily far (I did it for like 10 minutes and the cannonball was still moving thousands of units away from the map, so it probably can keep going until float-precision stops it)
So I looked around the level where this could be useful and I found that the cannonballs from the start of the level can be moved all the way to the end, saving the previous strat of long-jumping to the sling-pod in question. Note that the reason this strat is Mario-only is that Luigi cant do the very end of the strat of getting on the rotating platforms because his spin 0xA is much lower than Marios, so overall a pretty neat strat")

Lets go - first star I work on after coming back to the game and I already have to redo videos for being out of date - To be fair this specific strat is really cool, it really shows off how overpowered flipbugs can be, that its even enough to get the flipbugs to go between planets. Its not quite as overpowered as it seems though. When the flipbug is in the gaps between planets, itll be in the gravity field of neither of them, and in that case shooting the flipbug with starbits will only move the flipbug along the Y axis, and cant be moved laterally between planets any more. This means you have to have all the lateral movement before the flipbug exits the gravity. In particular, the first flipbug launch I end up doing is just about the largest lateral gap I could end up crossing, so the first flipbug launch has to come in two phases: One where the flipbug moves as horizontally as possible, then a second half where I move the flipbug upwards enough to enter the next planets gravity. From there the second launch isnt nearly as hard, and I can bounce off it enough to save the long jump needed in the pole planet section.")

Im not sure how many more A Press saves therell be for RTABC, so def dont expect the next video to have 11 A Press saves in it again. I am actually really happy with how low the A Press has gotten recently, def not what I was expecting a few years ago.

This beats the old WR of 0.5xA Presses by DrogieSR (and many other people), which can be found here: https://youtu.be/mYh5okebVxs The improvement comes from doing a really tight DR off the top of the Whomp, which just barely gives enough distance to get to the cage 0xA. This doesnt save anything for 120 Star, but it allows this star to be done in Max Stars 0xA runs as well as a very optimized 70 Star, since the 0.5xA method using the Owl required getting the first two stars in this stage, which each take A Presses
Ive really been wanting to get this star done for a while, but nobody really bothered going for it since it doesnt actually save any A Presses or anything. But now that 70s A Presses are all in Bowser stages and Ive been thinking about trying to get it down timewise, doing this star 0xA would be helpful for that - so after a few days I managed to get it
0:00 - Getting to the Whomp
Pretty standard
0:48 - Luring the Whomp to the Cage
Usually this parts also pretty easy, but in this run the Whomps position next to the elevator was really bad so I kept falling off. Kinda annoying since most of the motivation for this star was time based but whatever. The strat is to walk left-right past the center of the Whomp so that the direction the whomp has to turn to face Mario changes, and if you get the rhythm right you can get the Whomp to go whereever
2:18 - The DR
This is by far the most annoying part of the star. The actual dive-recover I believe has to be dustless to get enough distance, so the pause buffering at the end is actually part of making the strat work - The really annoying part though is that the Whomps hitbox doesnt actually match up with the model properly, so you more or less have to guess where the Whomp actually is. This makes trying to barely fall off the edge of the Whomp near enough to the end to get as close as possible to the cage extremely annoying, but hey we finally got there.
Its also worth noting that it is possible to land in the cage but not collect the star, and despite a lot of practice I havent been able to actually collect the star if you end up on the ground within the cage, so that possibility was very nervewracking lol")

Okay so for anyone who didnt know, in the SMG server theres been this meme for the last like 3 years or whatever about Boo Moon 2 being impossible to TAS. Like it was gonna take like an hour of just grinding starbits and be so terrible to actually shoot Boo Mario up. Like I think some people were under the impression that 999 starbits, the max you could get at once, might not be enough. So while I was waiting a bit for Moosh to finish up something for the World 1 project, I decided to look into finally executing it.
Which is why I was kinda surprised when like, it wasnt actually that bad. I did some practicing and thought that I could probably pull it off with 100 starbits, and it turns out I didnt even need that much. I only needed 46 starbits going into the 2D section, and you could do this whole star without dying at all, since there were a few starbits on the first planet I didnt pick up. Ended up with 69 extra starbits (nice). If you optimized this for time I think you could get like 3:00.
So yeah, glad to have this star done even though it was kinda underwhelming. Managed to avoid both Player 2 and picking up any coins. Something that you might not notice is that theres like a second-long cooldown when you hit Boo Mario that you cant hit them again; Mario wont rise up in the air or respond at all, so thats why I have to wait until Marios already moving back down a bit to shoot them. But yeah, a pretty cool star overall still. Shoutouts to Moosh for chatting with me while TASing it, also Peepa.

This run saves 1 A Press off of the previous record of 4 A Presses by Th3Re4l, which can be seen here: https://youtu.be/NFeeQB71rhw The save comes from using Ivan178s method of achieving BCA RTA in TTC (https://youtu.be/FxP4THrsfCA) to implement a strategy developed by Pannen a few years ago (https://youtu.be/5v63cWxFw18) to throw a Bob-omb at the top of the pole in TTC, knocking Mario off and avoiding the A Press to jump off the pole. This brings the total RTABC 120 Sum of Best down to 94 A Presses
Reaaally excited at getting this strat to work - TTC hasnt really had any technical tricks in it yet other than the VSC into Roll into the Cage, but now it actually has something cool in it, and using BCA to save an A Press RTA is also really cool - Im definitely gonna do the same save for Timed Jumps on Moving Bars soon, but I dont think Ill try to implement this in Thwomp+100c, as Im already struggling trying to get that down to 10xA
Also sorry the input display didnt work, I managed to actually get the TTC attempt first try which really took me by surprise, and I tried to redo it with the input display working but I was too excited that the save had been done and didnt get it again for a while - Moving Bars will have an input display for BCA
0:00 - Setting the HOLP
When I was looking around for good HOLPs that would work for this, I noticed that the top of WF was like, the perfect height and a ton of area to get the HOLP to work, but the problem is that getting the cork box up. I eventually settled on a method shown in the vid based around the fact that you can get the cork box in such a state that it can repeatedly fall back onto the elevator depending on where Marios standing, which gives a lot of time to get Mario on the elevator - By far the hardest part was getting the Whomp/Elevator cycles to align, but this ended up being harder than the actual TTC part overall. For reference, the exact HOLP I ended up getting was (499.8954, 3592.531, 1613.449)
3:16 - Throwing the Bob-omb
This is where the hot new tech comes in; First I lure the bob-omb off the ledge so theyll remain stationary, then I manipulate the camera to perform BCA. In order to get the Bomb right, I have to throw it at the right timing (a 3 frame window) and with the right angle. For the angle, I managed to setup the HOLP such that if I tap directly up on the joystick, Mario will throw the bob-omb at the right angle. For the timing, I throw the bob-omb and then wait a little less than 8 beats in the music to throw, and that gets the timing with good enough consistency to make the window.
4:05 - Climbing TTC to the Pole
This is the same as most other TTC records, so I wont go into it
6:48 - Getting knocked off the Pole
The bob-ombs position is such that itll get reactivated just as Marios at the top of the pole, and then it falls down onto Mario at just the right timing to knock him off, which lets him fall onto the upper platform
7:14 - Collecting the Star
I have to hold down A through this section so that I can kick onto the pendulum, and then from the pendulum I can collect the star. I went for this strategy because its pretty retriable and unlikely to fail, even though it kinda took me a while to actually get the star which was really stressing me out lol
