The Sound of Unwind - BBC Radio 3 Idents Benbrick 2025-04-30 | Launching a new station is not simple! When I first spoke to Phil, the commissioner at BBC Radio 3, it was clear they wanted to construct a distinctive identity for this new station, Unwind - something calm but confident, spacious but intentional.One of the key tasks was to create four themes: two for daytime and two for nighttime. These 20-second pieces needed to echo our shorter sonic ident while still allowing space for voiceover. Each one begins with a B-B-C motif (technically it ended up being B flat... but you get the idea).I'm proud to say we’ve been nominated for Best Sonic Branding at this year’s ARIA Awards. I’ll also be speaking about the creative process behind the sound with the teams at BBC Radio 3 and Granny Eats Wolf at The Podcast Show.
