Version 1 is semi spoken , where Roy either he is uninspired or he is mocking the words. At any rate, it does sounds fun as he emphasises his youthful Texan accent on each of the verses. Note: Roy, of course, was going for a Rockabilly sound on his early records until he switched to Monument label in 1959 and became the famous balladeer that we all know and loved.
