My sweet Maestro would have turned 15 today.
So many of you have seen Maestro on my channel over the years and have loved him from afar, and I wanted to share this visual piece as a way for us to pay tribute to him together.
Since losing him this past Christmas, the void he left behind has been massive. There is a constant, heavy quiet in our home. Yet, Maestro is still so present—safely tucked into my heart, surviving in my memories and camera roll.
He wasn’t just a pet; he was my anchor through almost a decade and a half of life’s biggest shifts. Maestro was there for it all:
- The creative journey: From the early days of puppy parenthood to late-night studio sessions where he’d curl up at my feet while I wrote, right through to my album releases.
- The quiet moments: Being the absolute best half-marathon training partner I could have ever asked for.
- The deepest valleys: Holding space for me when I lost my dad, and staying by my side through the long, painful years of infertility.
- The highest peaks: Standing guard and celebrating the moment I finally got to experience the miracle of becoming a mother.
He loved me without condition, through every single version of who I was.
Love of this magnitude doesn’t just disappear when a life ends; it simply finds a new way to exist.
The grief of losing a pet is a unique, heavy weight that is too often minimized or misunderstood by the world. If you are walking through this quiet heartbreak right now, please know you are not alone. My heart is right there with yours. 🤍🐾
