On January 20, 2014, a silent spacecraft 700 million kilometers from the Sun began to wake up, ending a high-stakes, 32-month period of total electrical hibernation. This was Rosetta, a multi-billion kilometer odyssey designed to answer the ultimate question: Did life on Earth begin in the cold reaches of space?
