WARNING: HEAVY SPOILERS AHEAD! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK:

Dirtyfoot wakes up at the Place of No Stars, he only started coming there recently so he is quite confused, especially since he cannot see Rosethorn, his mentor. She tackles him, and tells him that it's time for some advanced training - She lectures him on the matter of trust and power, later showing him her memories, literally. He lives through her whole life, in the matter of seconds in the real world. He wakes up, shocked, remembers where he is and more-or-less relaxes, especially when he sees, for the first time, a soft expression on Rosethorn's face, but it changes and she turns to Dirtyfoot, saying "The best way to survive is on your own"
