Please understand that I am not fluent in French, so these subtitles are not perfect. I created these videos for other people who don't speak French to get a basic idea of the plot. But I hope more English speakers will become interested in this great musical by learning more details about the plot. This is just something I decided to try the other day for fun. I didnt expect anything of it, but I was suprised by how much I liked my own singing of this song. It has a lot of problems, especially since the song is veeery low for me, but you know what? Six months ago, when I thought about trying to sing this song, I laughed. The fact that this actually came out half-decent makes me pretty happy. I like the second verse in particular - I think I have much better control in that section.
And about the lyrics...I love the French version of this song, but I cant sing in French to save my life, so I tried the original English translation. I didnt like it very much, but a while ago I wrote my own English translation of the song, and I decided to give that a try. Those words you hear are my own translation, yes.
Its not perfect, especially since translating is usually a bitch for me to do, and this song in particular is a helluva hard song to translate since every word has to rhyme. But apart from a sentence or word here or there, I actually really like this translation. I think it captures the sense of vengance and desperation that was conveyed in the original a bit better then the London translation.

This whole thing isnt great, but I had fun doing it. This was more about practicing the voice for a certian character then just showing off my chops - I really wanted her hatred and vindiciveness to be apparent through my characterization, and I think I did that. Fleur-de-Lis is also my favorite character in the show (next to Quasimodo, of course), and a highly underrated and misunderstood one in my opinion. I aint not Julie Zenatti, but I hope I did Fleur some justice :)")
