This Saruin is the one without the Obsidian Sword, which is allegedly harder because he isn't bugged (if you give the Obsidian Sword from an earlier quest to Saruin's minion, Saruin will supposedly repeat the actions of the last character in the party. I've never done it so I'm not sure it really works).
The reason I took several turns to even start attacking Saruin is that, he's actually either invincible or heals himself for around 7 turns (as the screen gets darker and darker), so it's best to buff and defend with your characters as you wait. A tough character up front prevents Saruin's Sword damage, which sometimes comes out very often and can hit really hard, specially when buffed by Diamond Weapon.
The most dangerous things he can do are Mesmerize, with will trance one character in a row and will be deadly if they are set to attack (they'll keep repeating the same action they had used prior to being tranced), which I luckily dodged in the end due to Gray finishing him off; Diamond Weapon - Shockwave that can deal upwards of 500-600 damage to everyone and is very hard to recover from, and Black Fire which is a good ~500 to a single target; and if someone dies, Animate which might as well be game over. Everything else isn't as strong or gets voided by Fire God Halos.
As for the endings, I believe this is the most complete you can get for Albert (the scenes that appears depends on the sidequests you complete throughout the game + the character's special scene, though there are only a few that counts, and some characters can't do certain quests). God I hope it is because I've already done this game 3 times attempting this.
Overall, it's a weirdly addicting RPG. But there are WAY too many battles, dungeons are a clusterfuck of enemies. Maybe someday I'll do the other characters.
