What was it actually like for a soldier in the Roman Empire? We visit an authentic Roman Military Camp reenactment at the San Marino Timeline Festival to see the tents, the gear, military marches, and the daily grind of the Legion.
ROMAN LEGEND: According to legend, the Republic of San Marino was founded on September 3, 301 AD when Marino, a stone cutter from the Isle of Rab (modern day Croatia), arrived in Rimini to rebuild the city walls which have been destroyed Demosthenes (king of the Liberians). Marino climbed Mount Titano to escape persecution ordered by Emperor Diocletian against Christians, and there he founded a small village.
