Rolf Harris, Australian musician, singer, composer, painter, television host and personality, stopped off in Vancouver, British Columbia, on his way from Australia to England, performed at the Arctic Club on Pender Street (it eventually burned down at Christmas 1961) and was so popular that his contract was extended for 31 weeks, 6 nights a week, twice a night, and then he moved over to the Cave Theatre Restaurant. Vancouver loved him! He has since returned to Vancouver regularly and even composed a song about "Vancouver Town" and developed his popular routine around his song "Jake the Peg." Here he was the guest on CBC Vancouver TV's "The Mike Neun Show" in 1970, performing his international hit "Tie Me Kangeroo Down, Sport" while playing his wobble board and then his didgeridoo. Rolf has even painted an official portrait of Queen Elizabeth 11.
