In today's video, I take a detailed look at the Roland SC-88 Pro (later re-released in new forms as the SC-880 and SK-88 Pro), a classic 1996 desktop music synthesizer that has been featured in games such as Final Fantasy X, Ys I & II Complete, Thunder Force V, Touhou EoSD, and various Nintendo games like the GBA Pokemon titles, and used by artists such as Rei Harakami.
Before the days of VSTs and DAWs, making studio quality music from the comfort of your computer wasn't as easy as it is now. You needed some sort of hardware synthesizer, and one of the most famous families to cater to the prosumer home market were the Roland Sound Canvases.
