Hiya all!

Alternate title to this video: "me getting my hands back on manipping and frustrating the hell out of myself (as if exam session wasn't frustrating enough on its own)". Also, dedicated to Anouk (Ilovehertjes) because of a FB conversation we had some time ago, and because she's probably one of the two or three people among my subscribers who will actually know who these folks are ^-^

For the rest, this lovely couple is from Telltale's Game of Thrones videogame series, which I've started playing while suffering from withdrawal symptoms after s5 ended (in that HORRIBLE way T__T *hugs bb Jon*). The game is set between the ending of s3 and s4 of the series, and has you playing as several members of House Forrester (Stark bannermen) as they struggle to keep their House from ruin and abuse by their neighbours in the aftermath of the Red Wedding. Needless to say, I've soon become completely engrossed with the story and the characters (BAD, bad move, as this is GOT and therefore everyone's going to die painfully, I can feeeeeeeel it in my bones ;___;). Episode 5 is going to be out in a couple of days, and I feel like I'm breathing anxiety!

Anyway, in the midst of all the tension, GOT politics and family drama, I found myself totally shipping these two, hence the video -- where I have tried to incorporate a bit of fancasting for them, too! Rodrik is the eldest child and heir to House Forrester and was initially presumed dead, but actually survived the massacre at the Twins (even if he got badly wounded and scarred); while Elaena was his one-time betrothed and her House used to be a strong ally to the Forresters before the War of the Five Kings erupted. When the game actually gave the option to kiss her while playing as Rodrik I think I squealed like a madwoman ♥ I guess I just have a weakness for childhood sweethearts growing into partners and lovers and where the man has a physical condition (*coughs in Richanne*)...

$A game of want and wanting. {AU; merlin/twq} [HD + earphones; for more info on the characters/storyline, scroll down description] Dedication: to Elise aka MidnightPhenomenon aka Queen of crossovers/AUs – because she made me a jaw-dropping (and totally unexpected, but all the more appreciated for the surprise element!) birthday present this year; because she kept asking after this godforsaken video over time with the patience of a real saint; and because shes my #1 inspiration when it comes to this kind of videos with her otherwordly manips. If you dont know her channel yet...well, youre missing out and you ought to remedy that! http://www.youtube.com/user/MidnightPhenomenon *exhausted af* So...this video is almost 2 years (!) in the making, and it looked/sounded 3928465 times better in my head when I first started it in faraway 2013...but I was being *really* loathe to leave it unfinished because I didnt want to waste the already-done 80% of the manipping work. Also, its been far too long since I posted a crossover on this channel; so at least have this, whatever the final result is (and despite me not being completely happy with it). I guess you can totally tell the sections where Ive been lazier... I had written a lengthy and detailed plot description, but YT says its too long – so Ill just leave a few facts here to clarify some plot points instead. The story should hopefully be understandable for the most part (albeit probably unfolding way too fast since I stupidly chose so short a song -.-). You can ask me more in the comments (you know I always appreciate them :3) if you are confused or curious (or both?). -Video is titled after the tv show “The Borgias”; I thought the “game of want and wanting” line totally fitted these characters, for everyone here wants someone (or something) they cannot have. -In the video, the York brothers are nobles and knights of Camelot. Morgana is Arthurs sister (as per canon), and her and George are officially courting; while Gwen is Annes maid, and she is in a (secret) relationship with Edward. Elizabeth has been Arthurs lover for many years. -My backstory headcanon for these Richard and Anne is that theyve known each other all their lives and kind of always expected to marry (much like in TWQ), but when Annes ambitious parents saw the opportunity to make her Queen they went for it. Richard has always harboured feelings for Anne, and tries to keep her company/make her feel better everytime Arthur publicly flaunts his mistress to the court. I would describe their relationship here as early medieval “courtly love”, where a knight chose a lady to swear himself to, to be gallant to and to fight for in exchange of her “favour”, but never actually consummating a relationship (although Richard breaks this scheme when he kisses Anne). -Merlin, too, has always loved Elizabeth from afar, but being a servant he has never acted upon it aside from always being there for her. These two have magic like in their respective shows and they know about each others “gifts” (also a reason why they are close and Merlin is a sorta confidant to Bess), but they use it little for fear of discovery. [I actually would have loved to expand on this but didnt have the space in this already overcrowded video...T.T] -Arthur notices Anne and Richard being close and reacts how he does not so much out of jealousy (he loves Bess and only married Anne because it was arranged), but because society is okay with a King being unfaithful and having affairs but not with a Queen doing the same (even though hes totally assuming that something more is going on with them, because at that point they are completely innocent of anything aside from Richards buried feelings). Hes basically being quite the hypocrite – wanting his wife to have an irreprensible public image while hes the first to ignore her for his own mistress ^^ [sorry Arthur, youre always ending up showing your Jerkdragon alter-ego in my crossovers...] -When (spoilers for the ending!) Edward takes the throne by right of conquest and crowns Gwen his Queen, Morgana is upset by this, as by dynastic right she should be the heir as Arthurs closest relative. This triggers her and Georges ambitious side and thirst for power – which represents the titular “want” for them. -In the end (spoilers again!), everything that happened seems to have just been a dream of Morganas – which she realizes upon seeing Anne alive and well and worried about her crying out in her sleep. (Anne calls her “sister” because that was the use back then for in-laws too.) But was it a dream, or a seeing? And if it is, would Morgana want to stop the events from taking place knowing that a crown might be in sight at the end of it all? That is left up to the viewer to decide... $forgotten who you are. {the disir} What happened to the young boy who came into my chambers all those years ago? SPOILERS for 5x05! Last episode was one giant angsty mess...and once again, so much pain (albeit very much self-inflicted this time) for my poor Merlin. I titled the video this way because while waiting for the episode to download on Saturday night, I was randomly rifling through old episodes and stumbled upon 3x11; then, in the aftershock of the new episode, I realized how sadly fitting Gillis words to Merlin were for his predicament in The Disir, where he chose to deny his very self magic thinking it would protect his destiny, only to realize his double mistake (even with the sad consequences, my inner classical-student soul cant help but be gleeful about noticing the Greek tragedy mechanism here you want to avoid something, you end up making it happen). Merlin has given up so much for his destiny...every affection he had that happened to go against it he let it go (Morgana, Freya), and in this episode we could clearly see how he is letting go of parts of himself even, in order to achieve his bigger goal. Gaiuss question about where that boy we knew had gone, with his innocence, his endless trust in others and will to help everyone, never wanting to hurt anyone...gave me chills, because Merlin really has changed so much from then, so much that he would gladly let someone die now because of an uncertain future he has glimpsed when it was him who once told Kilgharrah that the future isnt set in stone. I found it really depressing to see how calculating he was being towards Mordred he really is not much different from Morgana now. he way he answered He grew up, the exact same way as Morgana did to Arthurs question What happened to you? in 5x02, was chilling too; these two are just way more similar than they would like to admit. I have the dreadful feeling now that Mordred really is loyal to Arthur, but all this mistrust Merlin is showing him just because of the prophecy will end up causing something that will turn him against Camelot...much in the same way his refusal to share knowledge of his powers did Morgana, and all of that because, among other things, that damned dragon (so much hate for his stupid advice, really!) kept telling him that she was evil even before she actually did anything. Nonetheless, its quite understandable that, after all hes seen well, especially him who has seen more than everyone else! Merlin would start progressively losing his innocence; and I like how there are more grey areas to the characters to explore now, it makes everything more believable and interesting, and I salute the writers for that. Still, constantly editing with the old episodes, my heart cries for the old times when our OT4 was so young and innocent and full of hope and trust and love...*big sigh* Gosh, end of the rant here! I just needed to get part of my mixed feelings out of my chest, sorry ^^ I will only just add that in that fireplace scene Colin was AMAZING. Like really, I shouldnt be surprised anymore that hes that good at acting, but he blows me away every single time! I could hear my heart breaking along with Merlins. So, introducing you to...Elfa! :D These two have officially been our crackship for the season xD its actually all started because Ele and I quite liked Sefa and her internal remorseful feelings in the season opener, we thought that she was really a very sweet girl, just put in an impossible situation. Then Ele liked Elyan as well, and I kept teasing her about how useless he has often been, with her defending him passionately :P and somehow, the ship sailed itself xD Ele even drew the fanart at the end of the video (shes really amazing at sketching, you should check her out on deviantart!), which is the cutest thing :D Our ship would also have some good basis of angst if one wishes, because its actually a blow from Elyan that killed Ruadan, Sefas father...but I couldnt go with the usual depressing angst with a b-day present now could I? Im reserving that for my future Mergana vids! ^^ So, basically, the video is a lot of Elfa being lovey-dovey but not wanting anyone to know even though Gwen has clearly understood everything, and Arthur cant resist being a prat about it :P however, Sefa is at a certain point found guilty of treason, forcing Gwen to punish her whether shes innocent or not in this scenario I dont really care, because Elyan doesnt either; he just cant let her die, so he frees her and they run away together :3 (so in the end a bit of angst made its way into the video, apparently...^_^) I apologize for this nonsensical pairing xD I will go back to serious editing soon, I have a video about 5x09 still in the making and the finale already promises to make us all cry, however they decide to make it go so expect a lot of venting vids from here! I am sorry for not posting anything or being little active in the last few months, but I had multiple reasons :( first I came back from my late African holiday with 2 weeks of uni missed, and I still have to catch up with the studying now...and secondly, my main pc is broken. I have in programme a multifandom vid to thank you all amazing people for 1000+ subs (seriously, WHAT! I can still scarcely believe you are so many! *-*) and a crossover, but on this pc I had only TWQ and was inspired after the ending of it in USA so...here we go again! ^^ (long rant warning!) I feel a bit bad about always excluding Elizabeth/Edward from my TWQ vids until now...but I guess they didnt quite fit with the theme of tragic love I had in mind with this song. I will have to make up for this sometime... It was a bit strange to vid Lizzie instead, since my love for Richanne, but this song actually made me think of her first. I was so utterly mad (like, in blind RAGE) when I heard that in the USA version of ep.10 they had added an intimate scene between R&E, and even more after the Twitter chat with Philippa Gregory with her stating that Richard wouldve surely married Elizabeth after winning Bosworth, when all the evidence on their romance is but rumour, and an unlikely one since he was discussing Portuguese marriages for both himself and his niece (dyou think he could hope to send her to a Portuguese prince if she were not a virgin, PG? -.-). Plus, I find it unnerving that she has to ruin two historical couples whose mutual love is documented (Richard/Anne and Henry/Elizabeth) just because she fancies the incest thing. Ugh. But aside from history and speaking only of the actual episode, once again Aneurins acting saved the thing for me. I saw the scene, and actually used a bit of it here, and...he so totally didnt look in love with her. Even when he told her, no emotion in his eyes...and after, he was just rolling away from her with this blank look on his face, and no eye contact - while with Anne, they kept looking at each other all the time. It really looked to me like he had nothing more to lose after his whole family died, and his honour was compromised anyway, since everyone suspected him of bad things already, so he just went with it in a sort of Why not? fashion. To try and see if he could feel something again - since he looked so cold after his beloveds died...and after, he saw that he still felt nothing, and therefore his void gaze. Or I will keep this as my headcanon, at least. In all this, though, I can sympathize with Lizzie in the series, because she truly seemed in love with him instead (though she was really disrespectful towards Anne and that I cant overlook u.u), and it looked to me like he just used her all the time, to win support from Tudor and to forget; and so I felt like vidding her too because she fitted the theme I had in mind. All these couples have been destroyed by ambition and the struggle for power: Isabel was caught in the midst of Georges greed for the throne, Richards power play to steal support from Tudor broke Annes heart, and (in my interpretation) he used Elizabeth for his own purposes but never loved her. So...if youve actually reached the end of this, you have the patience of a real Jedi! ^^ Comments are love!
