Set in the Oklahoma Territory in 1906, the story follows the romantic rivalry between confident cowboy Curly McLain and the brooding farmhand Jud Fry, both of whom have their sights set on the spirited farm girl Laurey Williams. As the community prepares for a lively box social, relationships are tested and tensions rise, particularly as Jud’s jealousy grows darker. Alongside the central romance, Laurey’s friend Ado Annie provides comic relief with her carefree attitude toward love and her complicated courtship with the earnest cowboy Will Parker.
