The Great Southern Trendkill has to be one of the greatest metal albums of all time. The amount of irreplaceable talent in all 4 members of Pantera isn't something that can even be measured. I'm SO happy that nearly this entire album made it to Rock Band, not only because of being able to play it, but also because it fully archived the stems of these songs as well, even if it means the vocals are censored.
I was first introduced to this album in around 2021, since my friend was also obsessed with this album at the time (s/o @damndeeznotes) I firstly was only introduced to the g/b chart of Suicide Note Pt. II since I was only known for strumming back then, but over time I eventually got introduced to the title track, Floods, and Living Through Me. There was always a debate on if the title track of Suicide Note Pt. II was harder, but I will absolutely say the title track is harder, it has longer strumming and IMO a comparable solo to Suicide Note Pt. II. Most people would see Living Through Me as the next hardest song, since the Hvy part feels almost broken on this game, due to the fact that if you don't perfectly fret your strums will get eaten, not to mention that it's so late into the song. Thankfully, I've reached a skill level now where only the title track and Suicide Note Pt. II give me any trouble. But pretty much every song in this album is missable aside from probably War Nerve and 13 Steps to Nowhere.
Now of course, everyone knows that unfortunately Harmonix didn't include Suicide Note Pt. I in the DLC release of this album. I don't know what the reason could be, but I think it's either cause they didn't want a chart with only guitar and vocals (this was before keys), the subject matter was a bit too much, or the masters weren't available for the song. It's also kinda worthy to note that the original vinyl release of this album didn't include Suicide Note Pt. I as well for some reason lmao.
So for the video itself, my GOD this is easily the longest I've ever spent editing a video. Just getting the footage of the FC's wasn't even close to the hardest part, because my masochistic self also wanted to give the viewers the best listening experience possible. So I incorporated the master tracks to include some audio that isn't in the Rock Band versions, I uncensored all the songs, added lyrics on screen, and I made sure to blend together The Underground In America with (Reprise) Sandblasted Skin.
My next goal for a full album is gonna be Feathergun by Rishloo, easily one of my favorite prog albums of all time. Unfortunately, Diamond Eyes is a fucking HARDDDDDDDDD FC that I still haven't been able to grasp, so I really hope I'll be able to get it soon to honor one of my favorite albums.
