The science of the past 80 years has been dominated by materialism. Despite great advances in technology, medicine and surgery, there is, perhaps, something lacking. And perhaps within our education system too. Here a child rescues the elephant in the ivory tower. robinkelly.co.nz

The Elephant in the Ivory Tower

within the ivory tower
the elephant cowers
hidden in plain sight
forbidden from fight or flight.
the scientist willfully blind to
his plight.
the elephant seethes
that
he is perceived
as a metaphor
for the coming war
when
the scientist’s soulless ogre
drives at his command
man and beast
from the land.
a child enters the room
unnoticed
and leads the hapless elephant
down the spiraling stairs
through the hall
into the light
singing
“all in all
it’s just another brick
in the wall.”
