Taron Egerton's 2018 Robin Hood adaptation didn't do so well. And strangely, turns out it suffers from the exact same problem as Tom Hardy's Venom movie, only to a much more serious extent. In today's episode of Anatomy of a Failure, we'll try to find out what that problem is, what filmmaking and storytelling issues it creates, and how it could perhaps be fixed.
2018's Robin Hood just hit digital download and blu-ray. I didn't see it in theaters and now I can see why pretty much nobody else did either. There are some cool visuals and Robin Hood fight scenes and chase scenes, but it wasn't enough clearly. Robin Hood ending sets up a sequel of Robin Hood 2, but it's very hard to see that happening now. So even though Venom did do well, and Venom 2 with Carnage and maybe spider-man too is surely coming out, this seems to be it for Robin Hood, at least for Taron Egerton.
