The ebullient and effervescent Robbie Savage has penned a four-year deal to become Forest Green's sixth permanent manager in the space of three years.
All eyes were on the New Lawn this morning as the 50-year-old former Premier League star was unveiled to the media.
Charm personified, Savage quickly earmarked Stroud Times for breaking the story last week, before settling down to a plethora of interviews with the national media before heading to the club's Candriam Training Centre to begin pre-season training.
In a stellar playing career Savage clocked up 346 Premier League appearances for clubs including Leicester City, Birmingham City and Derby County, as well as 39 appearances for the Welsh national side.
Last season he helped Macclesfield FC secure a promotion to the National League North after a record-breaking run as head coach, with the team winning the Northern Premier League with 109 points and 109 goals.
Savage links up with former Wales team-mate Mark Bowen at the New Lawn, who was appointed director of football last month.
Forest Green parted ways with Steve Cotterill on Thursday after losing out on promotion in the National League play-offs. The eco-friendly club finished third before being dumped out of the play-offs by Southend who finished seventh.
Savage becomes Forest Green's seventh manager since 2022, following Rob Edwards, Ian Burchnall, Duncan Ferguson, David Horseman, Troy Deeney and Steve Cotterill.
