We decide to take the gang (and the dogs) on a quick one-night trip! We visited the town of Roanoke Rapids and the Canal Museum. The kids learned about hydroelectric power, the lock system, and the reason why there's a canal alongside the Roanoke River.
We took the dogs along on our museum visit, bike ride, and hiking adventures. The dogs loved trotting along beside the bikes, and it was great to have them with us on our river trip. We wrapped up our trip with a swing through visit to Medoc Mountain and check out the primitive camping area where we might take our horse for a trail riding weekend!
