We travel from Branson, MO to Des Moines, IA. This trip was taken in July of 2023 on a day when smoke from distant Canadian wildfires had drifted into the central US. Some smoke is noticeable as we leave Branson and head north. The smoke seems to clear somewhat as we enter the Kansas City area. However, we encounter thunderstorms from Kansas City through the Iowa border. Once we get past the storms, the smoke gets especially thick the rest of the way into Des Moines. While clear air is always preferred, the smoke added an interesting aspect to the view of the landscape.
