Soprano Monica Mhangwana and tenor Siyabonga Maqungo deliver a unique and powerful AfroSymphonic performance of “Now We Are Free” from the film Gladiator, composed by Hans Zimmer. Originally sung by Lisa Gerrard, the lyrics are her invented, personal language created to express emotion freedom and peace. Also featuring Ray Green on guitar and Africa Soul, this performance blends operatic voices with contemporary instrumentation. Conducted by Chevonne Plaatjies with the Phoenix Co. Orchestra at Country Club Johannesburg in 2026.
