RJ Scaringe has just posted announcing a partnership between Rivian and Volkswagen!! VW will be investing $1B upfront, and potentially $4B more, as well as adopting some of Rivian's software. Rivian stock is soaring on this news (up more than 30% after hours). While it is great they got more cash, I'm skeptical if this changes much. The real questions are can Rivian deliver a $45K R2 Vehicle profitably? And how can they compete with Tesla's FSD on Autonomy?? Let me know what you think in the comments below.
