I finally got to see the Rivian R2 Standard in person, and it is a lot more car than the price suggests.
This is the first time the R2 Standard has been shown in the metal, in Esker Silver, and I walk through the whole thing. The materials, the Black Crater interior, what you give up compared to the higher trims, and why it does not feel like a stripped-down base model the way you might expect for the money.
A few quick facts on the R2 Standard. It starts at $44,990, it is set to begin shipping in Summer 2027, and it will come with Lidar standard. This was a pre-production vehicle, so a few things were not fully functional yet, but it gave a real sense of where the entry R2 is headed.
