This is what I think is the best deal this week for a Rivian R1 S.
Rivian $7500 incentive still available and why I didn’t jump in on the hype videos saying it might go away, CA would keep it even if fed drops it. The incentive hasn’t changed with Rivian. It’s always been available on a lease.

Rivian low range patent and why they haven’t used it yet- too heavy, it’s for the motors rather than capability. It keeps the motors in a zone that’s easier to control temperature. So my guess is either they figured out how to control temps satisfactorily without it or they are still saving it for an off road specific trim or model, along with lockers. This could be that they’ve agreed to let VW use this tech in the scouts, since they will have lockers.

Mazda commercial: stupid commercial that only peaks interest of people who haven’t charged an EV before but are curious. Regular EV owners that are used to public charging know to visually check if a car is plugged in. There are plug in versions of lots of regular cars. No regular EV owner is going to complain about you parking in an EV spot unless you’ve left the car there unplugged. Even if it’s an EV, if it’s parked and you left it unplugged, you’re blocking other EV drivers from charging.
