🌿 Dam Removal & River Restoration Timelapse | WWF Germany

Watch the transformation of the Wielenbach stream as an obsolete dam is removed to restore natural river connectivity and improve fish migration.

In March 2026, WWF Germany supported the local water association in dismantling a former diversion weir that had historically supplied water to a turbine-powered drinking water pumping system. Following the expiration of the operating permit, the structure was removed to restore the natural flow of the stream.

Today, fish can once again migrate freely between the Lech River and the Wielenbach, helping to strengthen aquatic biodiversity and reconnect habitats.
