Made a short demonstration video of a minor tech project I've been up to: running Yamaha's S-YXG-100 software within 86Box, which is a promising PC emulator for retro musicians in that it's the only one I know of that supports MIDI in. With my experiments, confirmed in the process two Yamaha VL-1 presets used heavily in the Riven soundtrack reappear in this program despite being based on the stripped-down VL70-m.
Note: this took a lot of recording takes due to the finicky nature of the CPU emulation in Apple Silicon, though hopefully it's a moot point on Intel hosts. (UPDATE: turns out the issue was mainly MIDI feedback. Since resolved in my virtual MIDI routing, and hopefully shouldn't be an issue to begin with for physical MIDI devices).
Background music is technically original, albeit heavily inspired by Riven which is © Cyan
