Rita is a happily married young woman with a loving husband and a good career. All she wants now is to become a mother, but because she has a severe heart disease, Rita cannot even think about getting pregnant until she has had a heart transplant.
One day, Rita discovers that her husband has been cheating on her, and furthermore his mistress is pregnant with their child. The news fills Rita with horror, seriously exacerbating her heart condition, and she is rushed to hospital. At the same time, a woman is brought to the same hospital with brain death after a severe road accident. However, her heart is still alive and could be made available to Rita. Rita's father, a former detective, persuades Kirill, the victim’s grief-stricken husband, to give her heart to Rita for a transplant, in return promising to investigate the circumstances of the accident. In the course of his investigation, he discovers that it was not an accident at all.
Rita’s surgery is successful, but during her recovery, she starts having strange dreams about children begging for help. She sees this as an omen and decides to find the family of her donor. After meeting Kirill and his children, she resolves to help them recover from their loss. As time goes by Rita gradually falls in love with Kirill and becomes totally attached to his children. Yet, she cannot bring herself to confess to them whose heart she is now carrying. One day, however, the truth will surely be revealed. Will a loving heart then be able to understand and forgive?
