Daniel Ruffing | #RIPTheBarrel - Hearts Made of Paper - by Daniel Ruffing, Performed by Audrey Hare @danielruffingmusic | Uploaded December 2019 | Updated October 2024, 6 seconds ago.
My submission to the #RIPTheBarrel competition!
Gone too soon...
Anyway, I decided that my song "Hearts Made of Paper" would be a perfect fit for this competition, so I've modified the lyrics a bit. The amazing queen that is Audrey Hare sings this song, reflecting on all the memories The Barrel has given us. How will we continue the story that The Barrel has been telling?
Also, this is literally the MOST vocally demanding song I've ever written, covering a total of 3 octaves of range, so can we all just admire how much Audrey SLAYED that?!!? Like OK! Sis!

LYRICS:
I had a dream that one day you'd come home.
Dreams don't come true, not for me. Not like this.
I know you didn't mean to leave me here.
Broken, not knowing what to do.
How can I ever say goodbye?
Can I change the world with just one thought?
Can I do what's best to let your memory live on?
I will tell your story, I won't let you fade.
With the stroke of my pen on hearts made of paper
Hearts made of paper
God up above, hear my prayer, hear my plea
Watch over me. Keep me safe. Guide me to the truth
I can't let go of all this pain
Please, God, I need you with me now
How can I ever say goodbye?
Can I change the world with just one thought?
Can I do what's best to let your memory live on?
I will tell your story, I won't let you fade.
With the stroke of my pen on hearts made of paper
