What happens when you hand the black sheep of the Aston Martin family over to the world-renowned custom builders at Ringbrothers? You get an absolute restomod masterpiece code-named "Octavia"!
In this week's episode, Jay Leno hangs out with Mike and Jim Ring to look at their stunning three-year build based on a 1971 Aston Martin DBS. Originally a flat-sided, anemic six-cylinder luxury car that went for around $50,000 to $80,000 on the used market, this particular non-running donor car was transformed from the ground up.
The Ringbrothers completely reshaped the vehicle, skinning the entire body in flawless, lightweight carbon fiber and widening the rear stance by a massive 10 inches and the front by 8 inches. Under the late-model clamshell-style hood sits a ferocious Ford Coyote V8 engine outfitted with a custom-engineered Harrop supercharger straight out of Australia, capable of pumping out up to 1,100 horsepower! Reworked with a C6 Corvette transaxle, a full roll cage, and state-of-the-art Gentex auto-dimming sun visors, this tire-shredding GT car delivers the kind of raw power an Aston Martin should have always had.
