Video #68 - The "Tales of the Riftwalker" continue in Part III -- "The Flames of Faith"!
In Part I ("Guardian of Telara"), Raelskye becomes an Ascended Guardian; in Part II ("Nightmare of the Ascended"), she heads to the Plane of Water in an attempt to confront her growing nightmares. And here in Part III ("The Flames of Faith"), she faces them. How successfully she does so... well... that is open to debate.
The Extinctions storyline in Draumheim is among my absolute favorites in the game, and of all the Extinctions quests, "Extinguishing the Fires of the Wanton/Flame On!" is probably the best, especially if you're playing a Guardian whose backstory and character is strongly tied to canon... which I am. (A close second is the Extinction of Extinction quest at the end of the arc. I hate the mechanics of that one, but oh, is the story GOOD!)
The first time I ran that arc, I was SHOUTING at my monitor (something along the lines of "NONONONONONONONONONONONO!" at roughly the volume of a five-alarm fire) -- in-character yelling is always the hallmark of a good arc. Thank you, CaptainCursor and Morticus! GIVE ME MORE ARCS LIKE THIS!!
(By the way, fun fact -- I ran that arc no less than FIFTEEN times up on the Public Test Server so I could film it. THAT is dedication. Or sheer pigheadedness. Pick one. Other fun fact -- not once did Rael ever actually consume the hearts she took. I didn't care how much harder it made the fight at the end -- there are some places where you just have to draw a line. That was one of them.)
At any rate, I really wanted to make a video about this arc almost as soon as I played it, but I wasn't really sure what music to use.
Enter Celldweller, and his utterly fantastic Klash-Up of "Cry Little Sister" (from the LOST BOYS soundtrack) and "Hello Zepp" (from the SAW soundtrack).
Klayton is an amazingly talented artist, and he has one of those voices that just GETS you. (Not to mention his original stuff is utterly brilliant.) And his Klash-Up was just so PERFECT for that arc... especially considering who Raelskye is related to. (If you run on Faeblight, you probably know. If you don't, you can probably guess from this video. No, he's not her brother, but they're family all the same.) Seriously, look up Celldweller's music -- you can thank me later.
I was really surprised at how well Parts I and II went over with the RIFT community! (Especially since now people are asking me how they can get cameos in these... to which I will say that there is room for a couple of cameos in Part IV!) Thank you guys so much for all the support! :D
