Anthropologists who study parliaments and politicians must make sense of messy interactions, contradictory actions, mixed motives and moments in which seemingly nothing happens. This video-installation immerses the viewer in a similar experience, juxtaposing images from research with interviews from participants and researchers elaborating on their experiences. Directed by Shirley van der Maarel and Richard Axelby, 2023

Living Democracy runs at the SOAS Brunei Gallery until the 16th of March 2024. Find out more at soas.ac.uk/about/event/living-democracy
